“With Los Angeles experiencing its largest downtown development boom in nearly a century, we believe 2022 is the right time to introduce such a dynamic hotel and exciting development to this cultural epicenter,” Danny Hughes, executive vice president and president, Americas, Hilton, said in a statement. “We’re thrilled to continue to expand Conrad’s footprint in the Americas and have the opportunity to bring this empowered and design-forward brand to a new market.”

The 28-story hotel will have 305 guest rooms, a spa, a fitness room, a 16,000-square-foot rooftop terrace with a private pool deck and 12,000 square feet of meeting and event facilities. It will also have dining options, though they have yet to be announced.

Conrad Los Angeles is slated to open in 2022 along with the rest of The Grand, which has been under construction since 2019. The billion-dollar retail, hospitality and residential development was designed by renown architect Frank Gehry — who famously designed the Walt Disney Concert Hall across the street — and is being developed by Related Cos., the real estate firm behind New York City’s Hudson Yards. Twenty percent of its 436 residential units will be affordable housing.
