Sam Asker, the establishment’s president according to a liquor license filed with The State of California, told What Now Los Angeles he’s “Not opening [the store] as a new location [as] it already exists.” Instead, Asker has purchased the business under a new name.

“It’s a small market with a small deli inside an apartment building. [The store] isn’t open to the public outside of the apartment complex,” Asker continued.

According to Yelp reviews, Oakwood Neighborhood Store is tucked into the parking area for AVA. The outpost is limited in its offerings but functional and convenient, providing the complex “cheap food that’s healthy, good quality, and quick!”

Asker didn’t elaborate on his intentions for the incoming store or its rebranding efforts. However, Ryan Askar, who’s listed in the liquor license as The Oaks’ vice president, appears to be the owner of LA’s House Of Ambrose, a wine & spirits store also located on Barham Boulevard.
