BBQ+Rice, the fast-growing Korean-inspired BBQ bowl eatery, is adding another site in Venice, located at 12819 Venice Blvd.

This will be the company’s fourth and western-most location, with sites in WeHo, EaHo, and, most recently, Silver Lake. Owner Matthew Kim tells What Now Los Angeles he hopes to open the new Venice location in early September 2022. This will be the second restaurant currently in progress, with the DTLA location at 700 S. Los Angeles Street opening by the end of the year, according to Kim. All BBQ+Rice locations will specialize in Korean dishes that are authentic, contemporary, and full of flavor.

The new 850-square-foot location will move into the former home of El Charro, across the street from House of Thai Taste. This will be a perfect location for the company, as the area features many Asian restaurants yet is limited in its Korean restaurant options. The nearest Asian restaurants will be Hokkaido Ramen Santouka and Little Fatty, while the nearest Korean restaurant is Marina del Rey’s Wharo Korean Charcoal BBQ.

In addition to the restaurant’s signature Korean fried chicken, customers can expect to find traditional items like a bulgogi rice bowl, spicy pork bowl, black pepper chicken, and their specialty, the Galbi bowl, made with braised short ribs and vegetables. Other sides include fried chicken dumplings and house-made pickles or kimchi.
