The new ice cream shop will move into the former home of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf, according to Toddrickallen. A representative from the company tells What Now Los Angeles there is no set opening date at the moment, but the restaurant is beyond a month from opening. Founder Jeni Bauer is no stranger to Los Angeles. Although the company is headquartered out of Columbus, Ohio, dozens of retailers throughout the county sell Jeni’s Splendid Ice Cream.

Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams should sound familiar by now, considering it’s been around for two decades now. Jeni, her husband Charly, his brother, and CEO John Lowe have successfully opened 47 storefronts in over twelve states and the District of Columbia. On top of that, the company distributes pints at over 3,000 grocery stores and markets nationwide, as well as through delivery or mail order. This will become the sixth storefront in Los Angeles, following Los Feliz, Larchmont, Venice, Calabasas, and Jeni’s Free Market at Runway.

If you haven’t heard about this ice cream shop, there’s a clear reason why this is becoming one of the most accessible ice creams in the country. In 2012, ten years after their official debut in the North Market area of Columbus, the ice cream received a Sofi Gold Award in the “Dessert or Dessert Topping” category for Lemon Frozen Yogurt. A year later, Jeni’s won another Sofi Gold Award in the “Outstanding Product Line” category. Some of their flavors include brambleberry crisp, cream puff, darkest chocolate, and Texas sheet cake.
