“After consideration of all options to remain open during this pandemic, we are sad to share with our customers and community that after 34 years in business, we have decided to close permanently at this location,” according to the social media post. “Thank you so much for all your support. It has been a true honor to serve the many generations of family and friends since 1986…”

The restaurant, founded by Monica Lee, first opened in 1986 on Beverly Blvd. and St Andrews Pl. serving its made-to-order soon (soft) tofu soups. It eventually closed in 1993. The current Beverly Soon Tofu debuted in 1988, growing in popularity ever since. Reps for the restaurant on Monday did not immediately respond to a request for comment by What Now Los Angeles (WNLA).

Unfortunately, Beverly Soon Tofu is only one of many notable longstanding K-Town eateries to throw in the towel in recent months amid the ongoing novel coronavirus. Dong Il Jang, which was also in business for decades, closed its doors for good in August. Click here to read all of WNLA’s closure reporting.
