Alicia Kemper, the owner and operator of Buvons Natural Wine Bar & Shop, has always wanted to expand the offerings from her wine shop into something more. Last year, the business owner closed her other concept, Mangette, and immediately began planning to expand Buvons. Currently, the neighborhood wine bar and shop offer small-production, natural, and low-intervention wines, but soon, customers can enjoy a sit-down meal next door.
Kemper tells What Now Los Angeles that she hopes to open in March 2025 as a nighttime concept that customers can visit from Wednesday to Sunday. When the new Buvons Restaurant and Wine Bar opens next month, customers can expect a menu highlighting seasonal ingredients sourced from local farmers’ markets, creating a French-inspired dining experience. Unlike the neighboring concept, this space will feature a kitchen where patrons can order dinner, all accompanied by a carefully curated selection of natural wines. Those interested in taking wine home can visit the shop next door to purchase it.
In the meantime, Kemper is supporting another local business by allowing Julian Park and his So Sentimental coffee brand to operate as a pop-up in the same space. Kemper mentioned to What Now Los Angeles that the pop-up opened last week and will continue until Park’s brick-and-mortar location is ready later this year. During this interim period, Park will serve his coffee selections in the Buvons space from 8 AM to 2 PM, while Kemper will open the restaurant in the evenings. Park’s storefront for So Sentimental is expected to launch toward the end of the year, and he will continue to operate in the Buvons space until his new location is ready.
