According to a banner posted outside the space next to Isshin Ramen & Boba — which another banner suggests could soon be having a soft opening — a restaurant doing business as “Chicken Republic” is listed as “coming soon.” The new restaurant space at 6775-6785 Santa Monica Blvd sits within a plaza anchored by actor Danny Trejo’s own Trejo’s Coffee & Donuts.

Not to be confused with the Nigerian franchise Chicken Republic or the similarly named Hot Chicken Republic based in Pomona, this Chicken Republic is its own thing. According to the listing, the business is listed as a “hot chicken concept,” which was revealed by the CBRE rep, Ryan Gurman, to be an all-new “ma and pa” joint, rather than a franchise.

Other properties surrounding Chicken Republic are Buzzfeed, which sits directly across the street, an adjacent Subway, Soregashi, and an Everytable. Additionally, three vacant spaces remain open for the taking.
