The new Chipotle will sit in the newly built The Groves in Whittier, which is gearing up to add several more tenants, including California Fish Grill, Jersey Mike’s, and Nguyen’s Kitchen. This Chipotle will be located in Central Downey, which is much closer for residents. The next closer Chipotle is in South Downey and Pico Rivera. There’s no official word about when this Chipotle will open, but customers can expect the new store to open in the first half of 2022.

The newest Whittier Chipotle recently applied for a liquor license, meaning there’s a good chance customers will find their signature margaritas at this location. Chipotles can only serve these drinks if the establishment has a patio, so foodies will have plenty of space to enjoy their tacos, burritos, or burrito bowls. Team Director Mark Watkins will be in charge of this location and the other Los Angeles locations.

Chipotle Mexican Grill currently has over 20 locations throughout Los Angeles County. The company shows no signs of slowing down, as they recently announced a Downtown Los Angeles location is coming early next year. Recently, the company has begun to experiment with Chipotlanes, a drive-thru digital order pickup lane. By the end of 2020, Chipotle opened over 170 of these concept drive-thrus.
