The eatery’s new home will be on the ground level of The Residences at Columbia Square residential tower (formerly Hollywood Proper Residences), at 1550 N. El Centro Ave.
June 2020 is the targeted timeline for the opening, a member of the concierge team for The Residences at Columbia Square told What Now Los Angeles (WNLA) via telephone Thursday.
In a real estate listing putting the current Hinoki and The Bird space up for lease, parent company Culinary Lab indicates that the 5,800-square-foot space will be available in June, the same month as the Hollywood debut.
“Tenant is moving to a new location,” the listing, posted by Culinary Lab’s Walter Schild, confirms.
Schild later told WNLA that it is not a relocation and that the Century City restaurant is staying put.
“Hinoki and the Bird will continue to operate in Century City indefinitely,” Schild said in an email.
“While we are seeking offers for our real estate (both a sale or lease), no deal may be consummated.”
It’s no surprise that Culinary Lab is opening a restaurant on the ground floor of The Residences at Columbia Square.
The restaurant group in mid-2019 unveiled plans to debut a concept in the space, but at the time, said it would be a new, yet-to-be-named eatery, and a “spin-off” of Century City’s Hinoki and The Bird.
Culinary Lab, with the opening of rooftop restaurant Sorra last year in the same property, is overseeing the residential tower’s entire food and beverage operation.
Hinoki and The Bird will be the third Hollywood foray for Culinary Lab in recent months.
The company at the end of last year debuted its Italian eatery Soprano.
