Custom, Non-Edible ‘Cake’ Shop Cheeky Kakes Coming Soon to Studio City

‘Fantasy Land Experience’ to debut in October in former The LF Outlet space.

Cheeky Kakes will open its flagship store, at 12322 Ventura Boulevard, combining an “art exhibit mixed with a retail space” and an area for filming and content creation, CEO Tiffany Rowe tells What Now Los Angeles.

The store, modeled as a “fantasy land experience,” will sell “cakes” that look like well-decorated, multi-tiered desserts, but are anything but edible. The decorative pieces are made from cloth, stuffed animals, and more, and are able to be deconstructed for all of the “ingredients” to be reused.

Cheeky Kakes has provided its prop cakes to retailers like Target, Hollywood powerhouses like Netflix and Paramount, and T.V. shows like The Real Housewives of Atlanta and Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

The upcoming, 1,600-square-foot store in Studio City was chosen because “it fits our demographics well,” Rowe said. “It’s a family-oriented neighborhood.” Cheeky Kakes replaces The LF Outlet.

There are plans to eventually expand to neighborhoods like Orange County or Laguna Beach as well as outside California. One day, Rowe said she hopes to create a store that offers an interactive space where guests can create their own decorative, inedible cakes with friends and family members.
