The Dallas-based company had been planning a renovation and conversion of the unoccupied Wertz furniture building along Santa Monica Boulevard, submitting plans in the fall to renovate and convert the 35,158-square-foot building’s basement parking and two above-ground levels into climate-controlled self-storage units for households items. But on January 30, it emailed planners to request to withdraw its application, this month’s filing shows.

The proposal is shown as an item on the West Los Angeles Sawtelle Neighborhood Council planning committee’s Tuesday evening meeting agenda, indicating design changes are to come.

Baranoff’s completed project portfolio includes a 60,475-square-foot facility at 715 Centinela Ave. in Inglewood and an approximately 47,000-square-foot project in Orange County at 6950 Nortisu Ave. in Buena Park. It is also underway on construction at 1810 Venice Blvd. in LA on a 105,255-square-foot project.

The developer’s proposal for Santa Monica Boulevard was designed by Lake Forest-based KSP Studio, with the project representative listed as Stacey Brenner of Brenner Consulting Group.
