“I didn’t want to open just a gym where people came in, worked out, and left,” Brett Drogmund, CEO and owner, told the Los Angeles Business Journal. “I wanted to offer the community the ability to connect.”

California Smash will feature 10 courts with live music, a spacious dance floor, a full-service bar, and a restaurant. Players will be able to rent courts by the hour (ranging from $40 to $80 depending on the time of day) and will also be able to have food and drinks directly delivered to their courts. California Smash will sell its own branded apparel as well and is in talks with other clothing brands to fill additional retail space.

Last month, the club signed a 30-year lease on a 25,000-square-foot building at 815 N Nash Street and is currently undergoing renovations valued at approximately $6 million.

Drogmund is also the founder and executive producer of Skyscraper Productions, an ad agency and production company based in El Segundo.
