Housed on the ground floor of The Shay hotel at Ivy Station, the 240-seat restaurant is centered around a wood-fired hearth, where executive chef and Antico veteran Bradley Ray alongside chef de cuisine Joanne Bae — whose resume includes Here’s Looking at You as well as the Baegyangsa temple in South Korea — cook up items like summer corn and Jimmy Nardello pepper pizza, charred eggplant with tahini ricotta and dry-aged roasted branzino. Etta also offers “picnic towers” for groups, who can dine on shrimp- and king crab-stuffed lobster or a 40-ounce bone-in short rib, both of which are served with bread, lettuce cups, cucumbers, yogurt sauce and herbs.

Alongside its cuisine, Etta is pouring cocktails and beer as well as glasses and bottles from its wine list. It’s also offering “porrón and Polaroid,” where guests are served a porrón of wine along with a Polaroid camera and a new roll of film to document their revelry. Dining takes place in Etta’s 125-seat dining room or on one of its two patios, where guests are surrounded by 50 different varieties of succulents, trees and plants.

Etta is part of the portfolio of What If… Syndicate, a Chicago-based hospitality group co-owned by Grant and three partners. What If plans to expand its presence in California with another location of Etta in West Hollywood and a location of its upscale steakhouse, Maple & Ash, at the MGM building in Beverly Hills.

Etta is currently open for dinner from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. daily, and plans to add breakfast and lunch this fall. Reservations can be made through Seven Rooms and the restaurant is sharing updates on its Instagram account.
