Freedman’s, the Silver Lake comfort food restaurant known for tableside brisket, is looking to relocate to a new destination in Los Angeles.
The exact location is yet-to-be-determined, but Owner Jonah Freedman tells Eater LA he plans to relocate somewhere in Los Angeles. Since the pandemic, Freedman’s pivoted to serve Mediterranean cuisine through a pop-up in the parking lot under the name Greekman’s. Now, Freedman has converted the parking lot and interior of 2619 Sunset Boulevard into a permanent location for Greekman’s, which opened on April 14. As for Freedman’s, customers will have to wait before getting their tableside brisket.
When Freedman finds a new location for his namesake restaurant, guests can expect some of the favorites from the Jewish-American restaurant that first opened in 2017. The original menu featured handheld classics such as the Reuben, chicken schnitzel sandwich, and beef tongue sandwich; hot dishes such as steak fries and smokey eggplant; and cold dishes, like the pickle plate. Despite the various dinner options, the restaurant kept things simple for dessert, offering either cheesecake or a black and white cookie.
“It’s been fun!,” says Freedman’s website. “Thank you for the ongoing support. Freedmen is currently closed at this location while we look for a new home. visit us at this same address for endless summer at Greekman’s!”
