French Label IRO Coming Soon To Melrose Place

Shuttered Equipment storefront will be transformed into the new ready-to-wear fashion boutique.

Melrose Place will soon be home to French label IRO. The ready-to-wear fashion brand is taking over the storefront that up until spring 2019 was home to Los Angeles-based Equipment, at 8459 Melrose Pl., according to a Coldwell Banker associate with first-hand knowledge of the lease. Equipment first opened its Melrose Place doors in 2013 before closing in April last year.

It’s unclear when IRO will open its new L.A. location but construction on the space could start soon. A building permit was recently issued for the new boutique detailing nearly $200,000 in planned renovations. A rep for the label this week did not respond to a request for comment from What Now Los Angeles.

IRO isn’t a stranger to L.A. The clothier has existing locations in Beverly Hills, not far from the planned Melrose Place boutique, at 325 N Beverly Dr., and in Venice, at 1319 Abbot Kinney Blvd.

The company has stores worldwide in at least 14 countries and territories including Belgium, France, United Arab Emirates, and the U.S.A., according to IRO’s website.
