The new restaurant will be opening its doors sometime in Winter 2021, possibly early 2022, Los Angeles Times first reports. The expansion of the 20-year-old Angelini Osteria plans to have a much larger patio and bar area to attract pedestrians in the Palisades Village, which opened in late 2018. The outdoor patio is expected to have about 60 available seats, while the inside will have an additional 40.

Gino Angelini is partnering up with longtime friend and restaurateur Tancredi Deluca for this new expansion. Deluca already owns a handful of successful bars and restaurants in Los Angeles, including Amici, Ombra Wine Bar, and Deluca’s Deli. The restaurateur was influenced to join in on this project because of the pandemic and the optimal location with built-in foot traffic.

“It reminds me of my little town where I grew up in Italy where there is a piazza, people gather together, and you eat on the sidewalk,” Deluca told Los Angeles Times. “And we have seen that people are really wanting to go out and start living again and enjoying life.”

He and Angelini will count on their existing staff at Angelini Osteria to fill in the new restaurant, largely due to the difficulty of filling positions during the pandemic. Once open, the restaurant will serve lunch and dinner seven days a week. The owners also hope to introduce a weekend brunch eventually.

The new restaurant is expected to feature many dishes Angelini is known for, such as the taglioni limone, lasagna verde “Nonna Elvira,” and spaghetti chitarra alla norcina. Angelini Ristorante & Bar will also use this opportunity to branch out their menu with a couple of vegan and vegetarian options. A few dishes being considered right now include a vegetable couscous, egg-less pasta, arrabbiata with fresh tomatoes, lentil soup, and cauliflower bisteca with pepperoncini, olive oil, and sea salt.

Good news! I love Angelini Osteria. EDITOR, PLEASE NOTE: restaurateur is spelled restaurateur, not restauranteur.
