The new 2,524 square-foot ice cream shop will move into the former home of Kidz Planet Indoor Playground at an unknown date. This will become the fifth location in Los Angeles County for the company, with the next nearest site being in Northridge. The new Handel’s Ice Cream will become a perfect treat for visitors of La Cañada Flintridge Library, right next to the shopping plaza. Franchisees Lisa and Alan Hall with Kevin and Sara Hurley plan to open the new location in Spring 2022, possibly early-Summer.

Handels’ Ice Cream was founded in 1945 by Alice Handel from Youngstown, Ohio. She would use fresh fruits from her backyard to create her own ice cream recipes, quickly gaining the attention of her neighborhood. Now, the company boasts over 100 irresistible ice cream flavors across 68 stores in 10 states. Handel’s Ice Cream is easily recognized as one of the best ice cream brands in the world.

“To this day, Handel’s upholds the traditions Alice started all those years ago,” according to their website. “From making each batch fresh daily to using her original methods and recipes, we’re still sharing our homemade ice cream and serving the communities we love so much, one scoop at a time.”
