The Japanese sandwich specialists aren’t just a hit among Angelenos though, the hype is nationwide. In 2019 Konbi was named Bon Appetit’s best new restaurant in America. While a fast casual sandwich spot might seem like a surprising choice, it’s because of the creative and delectable dishes cooked up by co-owners Akira Akuto and Nick Montgomery, both of whom are Momofuku fine dining veterans.

At One Culver, a building focused on the self-proclaimed convergence of business and culture, you can expect a similar vibe and menu to the East Side original, although there Konbi will reportedly have slightly more specious digs. Think Katsu-style sandwiches, miso soup, some veggies and salad. According to Eater LA, Konbi Culver City will offer only drip coffee and tea, given its proximity to Go Get Em Tiger, where you’ll be able to find espresso drinks.

Konbi’s second home will be 10000 Washington Boulevard. An opening date has yet to be announced, but while you wait, we suggest you follow the eatery on social media to see what everyone’s raving about.
