TalkTales, a cocktail-making class concept, is coming to 555 N Spring Street. According to owner Shana Tyne Race, the business is in the process of acquiring permits but has all of the architectural plans ready to go for the buildout. It should be open in around six months.

“We are a hybrid company right now, doing business online and also going to different locations to host mixology events,” shares Race. “This new storefront will be our headquarters. It will serve as an event space for mixology classes, tastings, educational programming, plus a full liquor store.”
In terms of what will be in the store, patrons can expect to find TalkTales’ cocktail kits, beer, wine, and liquor. To welcome in residents from their upstairs neighbor, LA Plaza Village apartments, TalkTales will also display different residents’ picks of wine and beer.
“We’ll will be hosting events daily,” says Race, including distillers, brand representatives, and beer and wine makers. Their mixology classes will focus on a variety of topics, like how to make a specific type of cocktail, the 101s of bartending, history, techniques, and even, as Race puts it, “molecular stuff.”
While the menu hasn’t been finalized, Race tells WNLA that they will also be offering snacks like chorizo and nuts, as well as food pop ups.
“The food inspiration will be driven by the places that the staff and I have been to throughout the world and will feature our favorite bar fare.”
Other bartenders in the area will also be able to utilize the space for prep work.
“Come see us when we open!” Race concludes.
