Unlike the original restaurant, the new location will resemble an upscale dive bar with pizza, burgers, and live music, owner David Kuo tells What Now Los Angeles. Unfortunately, there is no set opening date for the restaurant. What is known is that the new restaurant will sit in a 2,658 square-foot location with 110 seats, including 6 outdoor seats, according to a case filing for the restaurant submitted to the City of Los Angeles. Big Fatty will also feature a small stage where four performers can show off their live music.

The new restaurant will sit in front of Little Fatty, which Kuo opened back in 2014. Although the new restaurant will not feature similar menus, the move proves the ownership to be popular enough for an expansion. Big Fatty will replace Timewarp Records and Black Diamond Tattoo parlor. The new restaurant plans on being open daily from 8:00 am to 2:00 am.

“In 2014, Kuo opened his own restaurant in the burgeoning neighborhood of Mar Vista under the name Status Kuo,” according to the Little Fatty website. “At first a fusion of Asian flavor profiles and American comfort, he’s gone now back to his roots with Taiwanese soul food at Little Fatty. Kuo is a first-generation Angeleno and finds inspiration from the food he grew up eating at home.  The name “little fatty” is the translation of Kuo’s childhood nickname, “xiao pang,” given to him by his family. “

Exciting (tho sorry to see Time Warp go). And what of Grand View market? I thought David Kuo had also taken over that site?
