The Renaissance in DTLB is nearing completion of its multi-million-dollar renovations and rebrand to the Marriott Downtown Long Beach. With the hotel’s grand reopening will also come the debut of its new restaurant and bar, the Local Current, which will highlight all things local – local breweries on tap, local food sourcing, and local entertainment – according to a representative for the new 376-room Marriott.

Local Current will be helmed by the hotel’s executive chef and director of food and beverage, Leo De Leon. De Leon and his team are planning innovative, California-inspired culinary offerings with dishes like Local Yellowtail Fish Tacos, Cauliflower Steak with spiced yogurt, Wagyu Steak Burger, Burrata Flat Bread and fresh salads such as the Farmer’s Market Grain Bowl. As for drinks, guests will be able to sip on creative craft cocktails by bar manager Dane Olsen, co-founder of the Long Beach Bartenders Guild.
The Marriott is expected to open in the coming weeks with an elevated outdoor terrace pool and hot tub, modern fitness center, 24-hour grab-and-go market, private M Club lounge for Marriott Bonvoy members, and 21,000 square feet of meeting spaces.
