The company’s second site is set to join the mixed-use complex known as Sunset Row, led by real estate development firm RYDA, according to Eater LA. Loquat Coffee will open this location in Spring 2025, along with a new all-day Italian restaurant called BAR di Bello. RYDA also announced the arrival of a northern Chinese spot called Xibei by chef Meng Defei, which is set to open early next year. Loquat Coffee will serve hand-creating espresso drinks and cold brews from their highly-curated beans.

This is a massive achievement for co-owners AJ Kim and Scott Sohn, who opened Kumquat Coffee in Highland Park in 2018. Four years later, the duo opened the sister concept in a former ice cream company space in the Cypress Park neighborhood. Now that the bright yellow cafe has successfully occupied that space for two years, the company is ready to open a second location. This time, it will be on the other side of the 5 Freeway, a little closer to Downtown.

This will be a perfect location for Loquat Coffee, considering it will sit in a creative collection of retail, restaurant, service, and living spaces that will be a cultural hub of the community. On top of the three recently announced eateries set to join the development next year, Sunset Row already bolsters an impressive retail lineup that includes Akila, Baggu, Filson, Golden Age, New Balance, Veo Optics, and more. More tenants are expected to be announced soon. With so many stores to visit, guests will need some caffeine, and Loquat Coffee will be just the place when it opens.
