Bay Area pop-up eatery Man vs. Fries is making its way to SoCal with not one but two delivery-only restaurants. Santa Monica and Pasadena will be home to ghost kitchen outposts of the fast-growing concept starting in January 2021, Founder Bill Bonhorst told What Now Los Angeles Tuesday. Bonhorst would not disclose the exact locations. “For now we have to keep a tight lip on it…,” the restauranter said.

Opt out at anytime

Bonhorst launched Man vs. Fries in 2018 and has rapidly expanded the restaurant coast to coast through a partnership with Reef Kitchens. The company’s first east coast outpost is slated to debut in Atlanta before the end of the year.

Man vs. Fries’ marquee offering is a build-your-own french fry and meat dish. Each option starts with a base of fries — available as straight or curly — and can be topped with meat like carne asada or pollo asado and is served “NorCal” or “SoCal” style. Other options include the SoCal Burrito (pictured above) and the Cali Crunch (pictured below): “hella big flour tortilla, carne asada vs pollo asado, organic crunchy tostada, lettuce, tomato, cheese, cilantro, onions, guacamole, spiked ranch.” On the dessert side of things, Man vs. Fries offers fried cheesecake and double-stuffed oreo cookies.

Called “pop-up shops,” Man vs. Fries has locations in Houston, Austin, Atlanta, Seatle, San Francisco, Portland, Oakland, and Toronto. In addition to the kitchens planned in Santa Monica and Pasadena, more outposts could be in the works. Bonhorst invites Man vs. Fries fans to “RSVP” for notifications on where the restaurant might land next.
