The company’s third location will move next to Breadblok and The Win~Dow Silver Lake sometime next month. Co-owners Mashti and Mehdi Shirvani tell What Now Los Angeles they expect to open in mid-to-late July 2022. The brothers recently opened the company’s second location in Westwood last year and continue to expand throughout the county. When the new Silver Lake opens, customers can expect world-famous exotic flavors such as creamy rosewater, French lavender, orange blossom, and Persian cucumber.

Mashti Sirvani has always had a deep affection for ice cream and began making ice cream and sour cherry sharbat at an early age. After immigrating to the U.S. during the 1979 Iranian Revolution, Mashti worked as a chef in one of Los Angeles’ first Persian restaurants. With only a few dollars to his name, he bought an existing ice cream shop called Mugsy Malone’s, and changed “Mugsy” to “Mashti.”

At first, residents were unsure of ice cream with rice noodles and various Persian spices. It wasn’t long before Mashti’s artful creations began wooing customers to the shop in droves. Now, 40 years later, Mashti and his younger brother are busier than ever, getting ready to open the company’s third location while providing Los Angeles County with delicious Persian treats.
