Tacos Los Desvelados, which already has five open locations throughout Los Angeles, is scheduled to open its flagship outpost in Santa Monica.

“We’ll have a full bar and we’re bringing in special mezcal. We’ll also have karaoke at the Santa Monica restaurant. We’re trying to bring the flavors of Guadalajara to California,” says owner Adolfo Valenzuela.

The Mexican joint offers a diverse menu with drink offerings like agave wine-based slushes and margaritas, flavored with ingredients like chamoy, tajin, and various fruits, as well as refreshing aguas frescas and beers. In addition to its burritos, quesadillas, flautas, tortas, and nachos, the star of the show is the tacos. 

“We make everything over a charcoal grill, handmade tortillas, chipotle sauce made in-house. We try to keep it as authentic as possible and offer our guests the best tacos without having to cross the border,” shares Valenzuela.  

There are traditional tacos such as the El Padrino and Taco Callejero with handmade tortillas and your choice of meats like asada, pollo, pastor, cabeza, lengua, carnitas, tripa, or buche. For seafood lovers, there are choices like the Taco Desvelado, Ensenada Tacos, and Taco Peligroso, which include shrimp and unique toppings like house chipotle dressing, guacamole, and avocado slices. Specialty tacos such as the Taco Sonora and Taco Tijuanero come with a grilled pepper stuffed with Monterey cheese, while the Tacos De Costra, Patron Taco, and East Side Tacos add a crust of melted cheese and creamy chipotle mayo for extra flavor. 

“We’re a story of success. This immigrant family from Mexico started in East L.A. in Boyle Heights and now we’re bringing authentic Mexican food to Santa Monica. We’re not a big corporation, we built it all from the ground up,” adds Valenzuela.

Tacos Los Desvelados is scheduled to open in Santa Monica in late August.
