The Santa Monica shop will be Mixt’s third outpost in Los Angeles, with others in Silver Lake and another in Miracle Mile. Since opening in downtown San Francisco in 2005, the chain has launched 16 locations total, with most spread across several California cities and one apiece in Dallas and Scottsdale, Ariz.

Owned by husband-and-wife team David and Leslie Silverglide — who has an impressive background in environmental science and engineering — Mixt offers customers a menu of signature salads or lets them create their own from a plethora of fresh ingredients. The couple conceived of the concept while lamenting a lack of healthy fast food options during a trip back to San Francisco from Lake Tahoe, according to Mixt’s website.

What Now Los Angeles has reached out to Leslie Silverglide for comment.
