The fast-growing New York City company is finally making its West Coast debut after opening its first store in SoHo in 2020. Owner Ken Gordon founded the company in 2015 and currently has two New York City outposts with some help from co-founder Christopher Wong, who also serves as the company’s creative director. A representative from the company tells What Now Los Angeles few details are available for release, but the company is more than a month away from opening this new location.

When this new Santa Monica location opens, guests can expect to find the company’s take on the Japanese-inspired delicacy made by wrapping premium ice cream in a thin layer of chewy mochi rice cake. The company takes pride in creating these poppable, delicious and fun, hand-held treats with the finest ingredients with gluten-free options. Some of their most popular chef-driven flavors include matcha, salted caramel, black sesame, and vanilla chip.

At the foundation of our mochi ice cream is the mochi itself. Mochi is a rice cake molded from steamed mochigome, a short-grained glutinous rice commonly found in east Asia. On the inside, you will discover decadent, creamy ice cream. The company designed its mochi ice cream to be the perfect portion. Each piece has the right amount of mochi to complement the ice cream without overpowering it. Their unique recipe enables them to create a very thin layer of mochi while keeping it soft and smooth.
