Moore’s Deli Closes For Good Taking With It Its Wall of Animator Drawings

Delicatessen's last day was Aug. 31 after serving Burbank for a decade. It was known for its 'animator room' where Nickelodeon, The Cartoon Network, and Disney 'left their mark quite literally.'

Burbank mainstay Moore’s Delicatessen on Monday permanently closed its doors. The restaurant would have celebrated ten years in business in October, at 271 E Orange Grove Ave.

The closure announcement came by way of a simple Facebook post. “That’s all folks,” Moore’s Deli wrote on the social media site August 31. “Thank you for 10 wonderful years.” Owner Robert Moore confirmed the news Wednesday in an email to What Now Los Angeles.

“Moore’s Deli is just an example of many independent restaurants that have closed or will close due to the COVID-19 dining restrictions and an unreasonable landlord who wanted 100 percent of the rent when we could only do 25 percent of our business,” Moore said. “We are so sorry to close our doors after 10 years and will truly miss our community.”

Moore’s served deli burgers, sandwiches, hotdogs, and salads. Its all-day breakfast was available on the weekends. Its coffee came from Intelligentsia which was roasted nearby and its pastries come from Burbank institution Martino’s Bakery.

It was known for its hand-drawn wall where many animators “have left their mark quite literally on us in the form of our Animators’ Room, which is adorned with drawings from some of the best in the business.” Moore’s sits near the Cartoon Network offices and not too far from Nickelodeon and Disney.
