Night + Market aims to achieve aharn glam lao, the Thai terms which means to “make the most delicious and authentic Thai food to facilitate drinking and fun-having amongst friends.” And by that definition, it certainly excels in aharn glam lao. The fun-magnet has drawn numerous culinary tastemakers and celebrities, including Gwyneth Paltrow, Lena Dunham, Daft Punk, and Questlove.

Owner and Chef Kris Yenbamroong has received national acclaim for Night + Market’s artistic, neon-driven design and fusion, flavor-explosive cuisine. Night + Market accurately describes its vibe as “California chill meets Bangkok frenzy fueled by natural wine.” In Venice, colored lights adorn the bright orange and royal blue walls, and pink jeweled beads fall from the soft pink ceiling. A faintly blue-lit fish tank divides the dining space, splashed with verdant potted ferns.

The proposed project involves adding 505 square feet of retail floor area to the new service floor area to create a 1,830-square-foot service floor area in the 2,994 square-foot restaurant. The expansion will allow an indoor seating occupancy of 92 and require an additional 8 new parking spaces for a total of 13. Angelenos will rejoice in the expansion of this hip, local spot which is often bustling with foodies eager to get a table adorned with a quaint flower tablecloth.

The Asian fusion menu is “a mash up authentic, old school Thai with some ‘90s Asian-fusion influences.” Among the most popular dishes are the Nam Khao Tod (crispy rice salad) and Fried Chicken Sandwich. From the Panang Neua 16 (beef short rib braised in hearty and slightly sweet panang coconut curry sauce) to the Pad See Ew Gaie (rice noodles cooked in wok with chicken or tofu, Chinese broccoli, egg, and black soy sauce), there’s just no wrong choice on this menu. Every dish is packed with flavor, color, and texture.

Night + Market in Venice is currently open for take-out only from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Wednesday through Monday, and closed on Tuesdays.
