The all-day diner since 1949 has leased space in the Ralph’s-anchored Hollywest Promenade shopping center, at 5453 Hollywood Blvd.

Peter Schultz, director of facilities for Norms, recently submitted a Conditional Use Permit (CUP) application seeking a change of use from retail to restaurant.

The CUP also seeks the necessary approvals to operate out of the space—most recently home to Aaron Brothers Art & Framing—24 hours a day.

Norms’ corner unit is just shy of 6,600 square feet and sits adjacent Jersey Mike’s on the center’s ground-floor fronting Hollywood Boulevard.

It’s unclear when the new restaurant will open.

Reps for the chain, which is also coming soon to Encino, Inglewood, and Rialto, did not immediately respond to a request for comment by What Now Los Angeles Tuesday.

News of the planned Norms Restaurant arrives on the heels of the City of Los Angeles last week issuing the necessary permits for a location of the fast-growing chain to go vertical in Northridge.

In Northridge, Norms is expected to debut early-2020, featuring the Googie-style architecture the company has become known for.

The Los Feliz location, however, will simply be a second-gen fit-up.

Norms teased the neighborhood for about a year with signs in the windows but nothing changed. Long before the pandemic all the signs were covered up. The covers fell off but it’s pretty clear Norms isn’t coming. Same appears to have happened to the CVS in the nearby Target husk. Their sign got covered up, too.
