The Peruvian-Japanese fusion restaurant, Co-owned by Nabil Mihoubi, Christopher Bongo-Ping, and Ismael Khayatey, will offer exquisite fare and tropical cocktails in a stunning, Amazonian-inspired setting by Mihoubi. The restaurant will span nearly 4,000 square feet and offer both indoor and outdoor seating to accommodate approximately 100 guests. Mihoubi told What Now Los Angeles Onizuka will debut soft opening around Thanksgiving and operate Tuesday through Sunday from 6 p.m. to late.

Onizuka will combine Peruvian ingredients with Japanese culinary techniques to create a vibrant and contemporary fusion. The menu, created by Chef Alex Carrasco, will feature revised Peruvian classics such as Ceviche, Chicaron de Pescado, and Bun Pancetta as well as classic sushi rolls, sashimi, carpaccio, and uni rice.

Onizuka’s beverage program will take inspiration from the bountiful fruits and vegetables native to Latin America to compose a seasonal rotation of fruit-forward cocktails. The restaurant will also feature wines from Baja’s Valle de Guadalupe, France, Spain, and California, as well as a selection of local and Mexi-craft beers.

Along with the stunning menu, the restaurant will be full of plants and white lotus flowers hanging from the ceiling along with surprising designs. The interior design, largely inspired by Nippon, will also incorporate the surrounding LA art scene and translate Onizuka’s Peruvian influence through the restaurant’s Amazonian decor with abundant plants, blossoms, chute fountains, and bamboo.

The restaurant will feature a DJ booth made of Peruvian pepperwood and a sushi bar with a stunning mural by internationally-acclaimed, New York-based artist Gian Galang, who has created artwork for UFC, ESPN, Nike, Reebok, HBO, and Criterion, among many others.

CORRECTION: The opening date for the restaurant has been updated.
