Last year, What Now Los Angeles reported on a handful of new locations of Ono Hawaiian BBQ coming to the area, including in Hollywood (5500 Sunset Boulevard), South Pasadena (1101 1/2 Fair Oaks Avenue), Pasadena (230 S. Lake Avenue), Ladera Heights (6821 South La Cienega Blvd), Highland (Greenspot & 210 Freeway), Carson (20715 South Avalon Blvd), and Sylmar (12631 Glenoaks Boulevard). So far, only three sites have opened: South Pasadena, Pasadena, and Sylmar.
While the family-owned company continues to develop these additional locations, its website suggests that even more locations are coming soon. Ono Hawaiian BBQ also plans to open new locations in Los Angeles at 655 S. Hope Street and at 3300 W. Slauson Avenue. The company is also working on a new location in Long Beach at 1946 Lakewood Blvd. This location will move into the former home of Hiccups near Circle Center West. In East Los Angeles, Ono Hawaiian BBQ is working on a new location in Diamond Bar at 20965 Golden Springs Drive, replacing a Jack in the Box. On the other side of the county, another location is being worked on in Canoga Park at 22237 Sherman Way.
There’s no timeline for any of these locations, considering a year ago more than half were still in development. Hopefully, the majority of these locations will open in 2025. Los Angeles isn’t the only city in California experiencing a high demand for Ono Hawaiian BBQ. In Orange County, a second Anaheim location is in the works at the southeast corner of Orangethorpe Avenue and Lemon, with another coming to Murrieta. The company is opening two locations in San Diego plus one in Temecula. It won’t be long before most of Southern California can get its hands on this delicious Hawaiian food.
