Mark Werts, the owner of American Rag Cie, a clothing store that features contemporary designs, is opening a new unnamed restaurant in HancockPark/ Greater Wilshire, located at 148 S. La Brea Ave.

This brand new restaurant will sit next door to the clothing store, replacing Cafe Mide, a cafe associated with Maison Midi, a home goods store. Now, the space will be used for the other nearby tenant. Werts tells What Now Los Angeles he hopes to open the new restaurant in May 2022. The owner gave a few details regarding this new project, but what he did share is guaranteed to get diners excited. The biggest is, he plans to have several big-name Los Angeles chefs creating the menu.

According to the new restaurant owner, the yet-to-be-named restaurant will be chef-centric. He is collaborating with restaurateur Bill Chait, who is associated with several Los Angeles restaurants such as Tartine Bakery, Bestia, Tess, Republique, and more. Another restaurant owner helping out with the new restaurant is John Sedlar, owner of Rivera’s Restaurant. Together, the trip hopes to create a unique dining experience centered around well-knowns chefs.

Although few details are available at this point, Werts tells What Now Los Angeles he expects this restaurant to become “Los Angeles’ best food-centric restaurant from top-level chefs.”
