WNLA first learned of the news through a Craigslist advert by the founders of Union Restaurant for a “New York Style pizzeria using the best ingredients and practices. Our flours are fresh-milled and our produce is all local.” The ad sought a sous chef. The location is slated for 33 E Union Street, right next door to Union, which is located at 37 E Union Street. U Street Pizza replaces POP Champagne Bar & Restaurant which closed in October 2019 at the expiration of its lease. Details surrounding U Street Pizza are scarce, but more information is expected soon.

As for Union, the restaurant has been open since June 8 after a brief period of closure due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The restaurant offers handmade pasta and sustainably raised meats and fish. To better serve the Pasadena community, Union has extended its take-out and delivery hours and has designated an outdoor carry-out table.
