San Francisco-based coffee chain Philz Coffee is opening its tenth location in Beverly Hills, located at 233 S. Beverly Dr.
The hand-crafted cafe dedicated to making each cup one at a time is expanding south once again into the former home of The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf. Although the window paper says Fall 2021, the cafe has yet to open its door. Beverly Hills residents can expect this branch to open sometime in Winter 2021. The newest neighborhood cafe will move into a 1,250 square-foot space with a small outdoor patio. This will mark Philz Coffee’s 67 location.
Philz Coffee started in San Francisco’s Mission District in 2003 under Phil Jaber and his son Jacob Jaber. Phil spent over 25 years in the area while working in a corner store. During that time, he developed strong relationships with the community. In keeping with the close-knit community relationship he created, he started Philz Coffee, making drip coffee “one cup at a time,” creating a unique cafe experience. After opening his first store, his son Jacob became the CEO and began expanding beyond California. Now, die-hard customers can find 66 Philz Coffee locations across the country, including in Washington, Maryland, Chicago, and Virginia.
The recent Beverly Hills location will centralize the four other nearby locations in Culver City, Santa Monica, Hollywood, and Sherman Village. When this location does open, customers will understand why they’ve been able to expand so much in less than two decades. Each hand-crafted cup is specifically tailored to your liking. The baristas will assist all customers in deciding what drink they want and how sweet they want it. This style of operation creates a welcoming environment that makes customers want to spend more time there.
