Once mainlanders discovered the heavenly taste and freshness of poke, we couldn’t get enough of the Hawaiian dish. Luckily for Angelenos, PokiTomik is stepping up to meet our insatiable appetite for poke. With three restaurants in Glendale, Simi Valley, and North Hollywood, PokiTomik will soon launch its fourth in Thousand Oaks.

Despite the unprecedented difficulties of the pandemic, PokiTomik was able to persevere and even expand. With its growing popularity and success, the founders decided to enter the world of franchising. Jackson and Samantha Howes, the first franchisees of PokiTomik, will launch their poke shop at 3679 Thousand Oaks Blvd in Thousand Oaks.

With the food industry’s recent shift away from processed food and toward healthy, all-natural food, poke is a gift sent from, well, heaven on earth (aka Hawaii). As PokiTomik explains it, “for centuries, Hawaiian fishermen cut their catch of raw fish into cubes and seasoned it with whatever ingredients they had to create a one-of-a-kind, flavorful dish.” PokiTomik has remixed this classic Hawaiian dish to create its own modern and flavor-explosive rendition.

At PokiTomik, patrons are able to create their own poke bowls, burritos, and tacos with their choice of tuna, spicy tuna, shrimp, salmon, sweet salmon, albacore or tofu. Toppings include edamame, cilantro, jalapeño, cucumbers, seaweed salad, ginger, masago, wasabi, scallions, crab meat, mango, and pineapple. To experience PokiTomik’s full explosion of flavor, patrons can choose from a savory selection of drizzles like spicy mayo, wasabi cream, garlic ponzu, eel sauce or mango yuzu, and finish it off with a crunchy layer of Hot Cheetos, Cheese Cheetos, sesame seeds, nori or crispy onions. PokiTomik will soon introduce poke nachos made with wonton shells.

PokiTomik will settle into the 1,210-square-foot vacancy at 3679 Thousand Oaks Blvd, which had formerly been occupied by Subway. While mirroring the red and orange aesthetic associated with the poke chain, the new PokiTomik will also incorporate the culture of Thousand Oaks into its design through beautiful artwork. The poke shop will offer both indoor and outdoor seating.

Keep a look-out for the opening of PokiTomik in Thousand Oaks this August. You’ll want to indulge in its explosive flavor, texture, and freshness. PokiTomik will be open for dine-in, takeout, and delivery via DoorDash, Grubhub, Uber Eats, and Postmates.
