Seven-Story UCLA Student Housing Project To Go Before Neighborhood Council

The North Westwood Neighborhood Council Wednesday evening will review and possibly vote on a seven-story, 39-unit student housing project near UCLA, its Wednesday evening meeting agenda shows. The developer behind the project is an affiliate of national student housing developer Landmark Properties, which is also in escrow to purchase the vacant project site, according to its planning application.

Plans call for a new 89-foot-tall, 65,681-square-foot residential building at 10915 Strathmore Dr., a site about 150 feet from the western boundary of UCLA’s campus. The project would have 158-bedrooms across four two-bedroom units, seven three-bedrooms, 11 four-bedrooms and 17 five-bedrooms, with six of the units reserved for very low income households.

The student housing development would also offer a wide range of amenities, including a 1,500 open-air courtyard plaza, a 2,139-square-foot fitness area, resident clubroom, and study area. In addition, it would include a fourth-level outdoor deck with a spa, BBQ area, and landscaping, as well as a fifth-level sky deck.

The site was previously developed with a church and is across the street from fraternity houses along Strathmore.

Based in Athens, Georgia, Landmark Properties has developed or manages student housing communities around the country. According to its website, 10915 Strathmore would be its first in Southern California after having developed or managed properties near UC Berkeley and UC Davis.
