South Bay Pizza is moving in next door to Project Barley Brewing and breaking down the solid barrier between them in order to form a collaboration. At 2300-2308 Pacific Coast Hwy in Lomita, this will be Joe P (Joe Smith)’s first built-out location with South Bay Pizza, a restaurant brand he purchased back in August. With 30+ years in the food industry, Smith will be significantly changing things up and adding new items to the menu — he’s already upgraded all ingredients, added four new pizzas as well as added a few munchies to the existing location 12 minutes down the road at 1308 S Pacific Coast Hwy at Redondo Beach.

“When I took over we added four more specialty pizzas: The Taco Tuesday Pizza, PCH Pesto Pizza, Spinach and Artichoke Pizza, and The Great White — an Alfredo-based pizza,” Smith told What Now Los Angeles (WNLA). “Our specialty pizzas are getting a lot of recognition.” South Bay Pizza’s two most popular items are the 12″ Cauliflower Pizza and the “Choose your own” option. “We’re getting stellar reviews on our Cauliflower crust.” The beachfront pizzeria also offers vegan pizzas.

Right now, South Bay Pizza is working on the infrastructure of this new joint pizzeria and brewery but Smith told WNLA that the hope is to open additional restaurants in the South Bay down the road. South Bay Pizza and Project Barely Brewing’s joint effort is slated for opening in early Spring 2021.

(Edited to update the name of “Pesto Pizza” to “PCH Pesto Pizza” and add an opening timeline of Spring 2021)
