Inspired by Japan’s pasta-ya culture, the restaurant will blend Japanese techniques with Italian favorites, showcasing wafu-pasta—a unique fusion of local ingredients and creativity, according to the company’s social media. It’s unclear when this location is expected to open, but Unico Tokyo Pasta will share a building with another new incoming concept called The Fox Den, scheduled to open in early 2025. Unico Tokyo Pasta looks slightly behind in progress and will likely open in the year’s first half.

This is a significant achievement for founder Takashi Sada, who developed a passion for pasta at nine when his father took the family to an Italian restaurant in Osaka. That early experience ignited a lifelong love for food, leading him to pursue a career in the restaurant industry and ultimately to create Unico. The restaurant uniquely blends Japanese ingredients and techniques with Italian pasta, resulting in truly special dishes. Together with his life partner, Chika, and their talented team, Takashi is dedicated to providing more than just food; he offers an introduction to Japanese culture, one delicious dish at a time.

When this restaurant opens, customers can look forward to dishes that combine traditional Japanese techniques with the beloved flavors of Italy, creating a unique and memorable dining experience. Unico proudly features wafu-pasta—pasta dishes that have evolved in Japan, incorporating local ingredients and culinary methods to create distinctive flavors. The restaurant’s menu showcases umami and creativity, offering perfectly al dente pasta infused with Japanese influence.
