It seems historic Filipinotown residents are getting a new wine bar and neighborhood market, under the working title of Poco Enzo, popping up at 1634 West Temple Street, where Par Paint once operated. The applicant is requesting a Conditional Use Beverage (CUB) permit for the sale of wine and beer for on and off-site consumption. Just a few blocks away, a Filipino/California barbecue mashup called SiSiG is also in the works.

This location is specifically conceptualized to cater to those who crave the bar experience but are afraid that COVID-19 will spoil their fun. If you aren’t comfortable in a bar setting but want to try out a fantastic selection of drinks and antipasti’s, Poco Enzo will provide that comfort and peace of mind.
It isn’t just a wine bar, it is a neighborhood market. Some of the things you’ll get to enjoy during the day are cheeses, olives, dates, canned seafood, crackers, vegan goods, bottled wine, kombucha, and tartines. At night, the market will still be open for those who want it, but a greater emphasis will be highlighting great-tasting, but cost-effective natural wines from Europe, as well as from California vineyards that Poco Enzo has partnered with.
“Natural” is a key element for Poco Enzo, as California vineyard and local food purveyors help to reduce the carbon footprint. Even down to any construction materials used at this site will be recycled and from strong second-hand equipment from other restaurants. While still early in the developmental stages, there is no set date for an opening, so keep an eye out.
