Tech-Based Nightclub Vuuka Lounge Wants Guests To Control The Party From Their Phones

DTLA venue aims to 'ease and perfect the nightclub experience' with an app that allows patrons to do it all with the click of a button.

Information technology aficionado John Orija is getting in the clubbing business. The founder of Vuuka Inc. is soon opening Vuuka Lounge and Club with a mission to take DTLA’s club scene to the next level. Located at 1009 South Hill St., Vuuka Lounge and Club is being touted as the first of its kind. At the heart of the new club will be an app created by Vuuka Inc. that allows guests to “control the party.” You can order tickets, drinks, and whatever else from the app, “to ease and perfect the nightclub experience,” Orija told What Now Los Angeles.

While the app isn’t just for them — and is in fact used by Vuuka, hosting parties at warehouses and venues throughout L.A. — the company’s very first club and lounge will fully integrate it, giving its guests a taste for what its app and digital technology, in general, can do.

Orija chose the location sitting in the middle of a “cleaner” area in downtown. Starting out small with a modest venue size, the goal is to ultimately host festivals and concerts on a grander scale. Vuuka has its eyes set on a future location that they can hopefully grab sometime down the road: 7th and Flower, just off the 110.

As for a timeline of their opening, things are constantly shifting. “COVID killed it,” Orija said. Due to the pandemic, clubs and lounges can’t open. But he is hoping to open sometime in November, in time to prepare for both a Christmas and the New Year event they’re dying to host.

While there is a lot of competition for clubs in LA, especially with the reopening of existing nighttime hotspots once the law allows it, Orija is confident Vuuka Lounge and Club will shine, since there is nothing else like it.
