This will be the company’s third location, following Brentwood and West Hollywood. Winston Pies To Go, located at 1705 Ocean Avenue, was operating in the location under a short-term lease for 1 year while the company looked for a permanent location in Santa Monica. Now, owner Brianna Abrams is looking to try again in the area in the former home of Milo SRO. She tells What Now Los Angeles they are in the process of taking over the old takeout pizza shop on Pico, but it is not open to customers at this time.

Abrams started baking as a family tradition to share with friends and family. Most of the women in her family baked pies, which quickly became a passion for her. Baking out of her home kitchen, she started ButterCrust Pies and made pies to order for customers throughout Los Angeles. It didn’t take long for her pies to become a hot commodity, opening her first pie shop in 2017 and a second location in Fall 2018. In 2019, she launched nationwide shipping so they could offer people across the country their delicious, handmade artisan pies.

“Baking has always been a part of my life, a tradition passed down through generations and deeply rooted in the fabric of my home life,” Abrams says. “After spending more than a decade working as a high-powered attorney representing clients in a broad range of complex commercial litigation and corporate investigations, I made the decision to leave my corporate career behind to pursue my passion for baking full time.”

CORRECTION: The original article had said the initial Santa Monica location closed due to lack of traction when it only had a one-year lease.
