From the minds behind George’s Greek Cafe and Manhattan Bread & Bagel comes Skillets Grill. The new family-friendly concept is slated to open three locations throughout Los Angeles in the coming months. According to Bill Barbero, director of operations, Pasadena is scheduled to open by mid-February, South Central L.A. by mid-March and Encino in April.

Skillets Grill will serve American breakfast, lunch and dinner with dishes like house-made pancakes, chicken and waffles, international omelets, gourmet burgers, as well as drinks like beer, wine, mimosas and micheladas. Plus, all their salsa and sauces are made in-house.

Barbero noted that each Skillets restaurant will have unique menu items that cater to their local neighborhood.

“Our Pasadena location will be a two-part restaurant with a Skillets on one side and a Manhattan Bread & Bagel Express on the other,” explained Barbero. “Items on the bakery side will be delivered fresh daily from our larger Manhattan Beach facility and will offer New York-style bagels, homemade flavored cream cheeses, delicious bread, cinnamon rolls, scones and sandwiches to-go. The Skillets side will be a fully operational sit-down restaurant with indoor and patio seating.”

Pasadena’s Skillets will be open daily from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m., with the bakery side open every day from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. to catch commuters on their way to work in the metro area.

As for the South Central and Encino outposts, “We’re in the process of cleaning them up, ordering equipment and such. At Encino, we’ll feature more Mediterranean offerings like falafel and Doner kebabs, while South Central will have items like T-bones, pork chops, carne asada and chilaquiles,” Barbero said.

“We’re motivated to get Pasadena open and excited to get our other locations off the ground. We can’t wait for people to come by, we think they’re really going to enjoy our food.”
