In October, the half-century-old Gladstones in Pacific Palisades will shutter its doors to make way for a new farm-to-table concept by Wolfgang Puck. The incoming restaurant, slated to open in 2024, will feature locally sourced cuisine, a lounge, a rooftop bar, a public deck, and an ice cream shop.
The oceanside landmark that is Gladstones was beloved by Angelenos and tourists alike, serving seafood and cocktails while overlooking Will Rogers State Beach. However, L.A. County, which manages the land on behalf of the State of California, had long deemed the establishment an eye-sore.
That’s why in 2018 Gladstones lost its lease to the famed property, and ownership was given to PCH Beach Associates LLC who proposed the Puck project. The new lease describes a 40-year tenancy.
Puck is responsible for famed joints like Spago (Beverly Hills), Merois (West Hollywood), and CUT (Beverly Hills), amongst many other upscale eateries both regional and international. The Austrian-American chef is known for combining classic French techniques with California and Asian influences while using the freshest and finest ingredients available.
