Arais Machane Yehuda is making its California debut, confirms owner Izhak Eskayo. The arais (meat stuffed pita sandwiches) shop got its start in Jerusalem where it’s become a local favorite, and now it’s opening its first stateside outpost in Tarzana.

While Eskayo didn’t offer further details at this time, the restaurant’s website features a menu of different arais (lamb, beef, entrecote, and Impossible vegan meat) served with tomato salad, chimichurri, and tahini; pita sandwiches (including steak and chicken); tabouli; Israeli salad (tomatoes, cucumber, green onions); sides like Bajan bread (open pita bread, ground beef, tomatoes, onion, parsley), fries, portobello fries, and baked cauliflower; as well as beer and wine.

Arias Machane Yehuda is Glatt kosher, which adheres to stricter kashrut standards for meat than basic kosher standards.

An opening date for the California outpost is still unknown but its website says coming soon.
