The incoming eatery, which is presently in the health permit process, will be helmed by Sudtida Kateloy and Pramoch Munglad.

Opened in 2020, Lalo’s strived to bring authentic Italian fare to Ventura’s foodscape. It’s unclear why the beloved restaurant suddenly shuttered its doors, but it’s apparent that fans of the saucy joint are shocked and dismayed. One confused Instagram user commented on the Lalo’s ‘gram, “I’m so sad you’re closed. What happened???”

Another diner, via Yelp, posted, “I’ve heard [Lalo’s] is closing because the chef quit. This is sad news as this was the best Italian restaurant in the County.”

Kateloy did not provide elaborate details regarding CBTC’s offerings but there is evidence that the team is involved with Carpinteria’s Siam Elephant Thai Restaurant — a casual nook with an old-world vibe and outdoor seating that offers Thai classics along with beer and sake.
