With its Tokyo location situated in the unassuming residential neighborhood of Nakameguro, Rokusho Los Angeles will offer an elevated-casual dining experience, combining the expertise of Michelin-starred chefs with the accessibility of authentic Japanese cuisine, within a 34-cover restaurant.

Carrying the understated charm of Tokyo’s Nakameguro neighborhood, Udatsu Sushi’s Hollywood iteration will present an intimate and exclusive omakase experience, with just eight seats. Having launched in February 2019 the restaurant swiftly rose to fame earning its Michelin Star in 2022. Offering tradition and evolution in sushi, the restaurant has become a destination for local and international celebrities, socialites and entrepreneurs.

Rokusho’s [緑青] dining experience will seamlessly blend world-class expertise with innovative Japanese cuisine. The restaurant’s culinary program, curated by 3SL chef partners Hisashi Udatsu and Naotaka Ohashi, draws on their mastery, creating an offering that embodies their culture’s attention to detail, cleanliness, and flavor.

Signature items from Rokusho’s Tokyo location will make their way across the Pacific – think wagyu aburi, kushikatsu, nori snack, and katsu sando. Complemented by items including tonkatsu and sushi, a number of new dishes will be served-up, catering to the preferences of Angeleno’s palates. Led by Executive Chef Carlos Couts – formerly of Sushi by Scratch – Rokusho will also source local ingredients daily, providing an ever-evolving menu.

Directed by Naotaka Ohashi, the beverage program will showcase an extensive curation of tequilas, Japanese gins, whiskeys and natural wines. Japanese mixology will also take center stage alongside delicious sake cocktails and timeless favorites like a mezcal espresso martini and Clase Azul highball.

A standout facet of Rokushu Los Angeles’ DNA will see the restaurant provide a platform showcasing leading Japanese chefs. A revolving calendar of residencies will bring culinary talent across the Pacific to the US for the first time.

Discreetly hidden behind an antique wooden safe door imported from Japan, lies Udatsu Sushi [宇田津 鮨] – a refined and private omakase experience. Under the masterful guidance of Chef Hisashi Udatsu, this understated gastronomic journey will invite diners to indulge in the artful embrace of tradition and innovation in Japanese cuisine.

Led by Head Chef Shingo Ogane – Chef Hisashi Udatsu’s trusted protégé – the offering will showcase the finest globally-sourced ingredients, utilizing strong relationships with fishermen, farmers, and produce suppliers from across Japan and throughout Southern California. Featuring seafood from Tokyo’s Toyosu Fish Market, each shari-rice dish will be meticulously crafted with a proprietary blend of three types of Iiyo brewed vinegar, in order to match and contrast the taste profiles of each creation. Signature dishes will include a vegetable roll, uni, smoked toro and sustainable caviar. The Los Angeles location’s menu will also feature unique menu items that distinctly celebrate ingredients available in California.

Udatsu Sushi will also offer a vegetarian omakase menu, designed to highlight the rich flora of Japan, coupled with a broad spectrum of influence from California’s agricultural dominance. With these efforts, he plans to make Udatsu Sushi a space that “is not just about sushi, but also a place representative of the city of Tokyo where people from diverse industries and nationalities can interact and deepen their mutual understanding of each other” – Chef Hisashi Udatsu.

An expert in sake, Chef Udatsu together with Naotaka Ohashi, will offer pairings with a rotation of natural wines, as well as seasonal brews sourced from Japan’s hidden gem sake houses.

“While hosting pop-ups of Udatsu Sushi in Los Angeles, we fell in love with the city’s vibrant culture and hoped to continue to share our interpretation of authentic Japanese cuisine. Naotaka Ohashi and I aim to introduce our country’s culinary excellence to Los Angeles through a stylish, contemporary lens. We view the city as a perfect home for Rokusho and Udatsu Sushi, and we look forward to creating a space to represent the city of Tokyo” shares Chef Hisashi Udatsu said in a statement.

Born in Tokyo and destined for Los Angeles, these restaurants promise to redefine the city’s culinary scene, blending authentic Japanese flavors with a captivating fusion of tradition and gastronomy. Whether indulging in the comforting essence of Japanese comfort food at Rokusho or savoring the best omakase experience in the world at Udatsu, guests are invited to immerse themselves in an unforgettable culinary journey that celebrates the ethos of Japan.

Udatsu Sushi and Rokusho Los Angeles is located at 6630 Sunset Blvd, Hollywood, Los Angeles, California 90028.
