A funky, urban oasis that transports you to Southeast France as soon as you step inside, Zizou has the fresh tastes of Provence and North Africa, an airy outdoor patio, curated music, and bright tiles and furnishings. The seasonal menu currently features dishes like an Almond & Apricot Tajine, Steak Frites and Taboulé Français, wines and spritzes, and other light Mediterranean eats and drinks.

The restaurant was started by Maati Zoutina and Boris Macquin, two life-long friends who grew up together in France. Originally an architect and a sommelier respectively, the duo moved to the United States and rekindled their childhood love of food and the culture surrounding it; working in various roles at restaurants in LA & NY including Los Feliz’s Figaro Bistro for a handful of years.

Zizou serves as their first proper endeavor together — something that took over 4 years to complete as the pair developed, designed, and built it entirely themselves. They wanted to create a place based on memories; classic dishes & recipes from their upbringing, an aesthetic that recalls the beach-town bistros of their home, and a focus on the complete experience that good food and drinks give us: Slowing down. Eating. Lounging. Dancing. All without being rushed out just to turn over a table.

Zizou is located at 2425 Daly St, Lincoln Heights, CA 90031 and is open WED-THU-SUN 5-11. FRI-SAT 5-12.
