It appears the address formerly served as home to Tekila, an “easygoing locale with a big tequila menu, Mexican–style nibbles & a happy hour in a casual ambiance.”

A longtime hospitality-industry vet, Corben — along with business partner Paul Carroll — first opened Taisho on Ventura Boulevard’s Restaurant Row before debuting Casita directly across the street.

Taisho “serves up crave-worthy Japanese food and drinks rooted in tradition — but with [a] modern twist,” says the company’s website. The concept combines sushi and robata, the Japanese technique of slow grilling, to create flavors primed to be both nuanced and near & dear.

Casita, on the other hand, avows to serve modern Mexican cuisine all made from scratch. Like Taisho, Casita’s declared traditional technique coupled with its dedication to freshness provides the kitchen with enough safety for fearless creativity.

Both eateries boast a vibrant yet relaxing atmosphere with stacked bars and a commitment to the ultimate dining experience.

Corben declined to comment on the incoming steak concept at this time, indicating that it was too early to “leak” information. However, BLVD Steak’s Instagram advertises the restaurant as opening in 2023
