Norms Restaurant is moving forward with plans to open in Northridge early-2020.
The City of Los Angeles last week issued several permits for the all-day cafe to begin vertical construction, at 9400 Reseda Blvd.
Approved work includes everything from “site grading” to building the new 6,679-square-foot building that will house Norms, and paving and striping the parking lot.
More than $1,500,000 will be spent building the new Norms from the ground-up on land where Acapulco used to be situated, according to the recently-issued permits.
The Mexican restaurant, at the site for 15 years, earlier this year was razed to make way for the new 24-hour, old-school diner.
Norms Restaurant, which made its debut in 1949 near the corner of Hollywood and Vine, celebrated its 70th anniversary in October.
Now with 18 locations throughout Southern California, the chain is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and has become known for its Googie-style design.
In addition to the forthcoming Northridge outpost, Norms is coming soon to Encino, Inglewood, and Rialto.
